GSF: the Figeac rugby club displays its good prospects at the assembly

It was with real pleasure that managers, players, volunteers and supporters met on Friday evening at the clubhouse of the Calvaire stadium, for the first general assembly of the GSF of the new mandate. President Denis Decas, after welcoming Vincent Labarthe, president of Grand Figeac, and Nathalie Faure, municipal elected official in charge of sports, gave the floor to Marc Thouron to read the moral report.

In his presentation, the co-president mentioned the difficulties encountered when the club took over a year ago, a situation which has now been rectified and which sees the GSF with more than 500 licensees becoming the first club in the department. Satisfaction also with two women’s teams in constant progress, a rugby school with 160 players and 35 educators, particularly dynamic, a young center engaged in the R1 championship in its own name. It also highlighted the qualification of the two senior teams. “We can be proud of the work accomplished,” he concluded.

The second star of the FFR awarded to the rugby school

Reports from each section manager followed. Gilles Cross and Alain Chevalier highlighted the great season achieved by the youngest and welcomed the obtaining of the second FFR star by the rugby school. Jérôme Fel for the youth pole, retained the qualification of the cadets and juniors, and the two victories obtained during the territorial finals.

The president of the women’s section, Cyril Lalane underlined the encouraging results of the two cadet and senior teams in constant progress; as proof, an increasingly large audience at each of their meetings.

Recruitment is underway

It was then André Leymat who looked back on the very good season last year with an undefeated hopefuls team which lost narrowly in the round of 16 and a pennant team also qualified with fourteen victories which stumbled in the round of 16.

Not a word, however, on the appearance of the group for the coming season, recruitment is underway, the objective still being the rise to federal 2 with the consolidation of the squad, particularly in the front 5. A change, however, within the staff: Cyril Petit taking a step back, his friend Jérôme Richard takes over the reins for training the forwards, with Fabrice Landes for three-quarters; two boys who know each other well and like each other.

The medal of honor to Jean-Louis Campgilhen

Before the financial report, the dean of the club, René Landes, presented the FFR medal of honor to equipment manager Jean-Louis Campgilhen, a well-deserved distinction when we know his commitment, player then manager for more than fifty years at the red and black service.

Then came the financial aspect, with a budget of €410,000, now in balance, the treasurer François Gaianni highlighted the action of the 3rd co-president Jérôme Falreten in charge of sponsorship and patronage which enabled this spectacular recovery. Following the vote of the offices renewed by a third, Denis Decas was unanimously reappointed as president.

It was Vincent Labarthe who concluded the session by praising the work carried out by the sports association and wishing the “red and black” the best for next season.
