Wind and suspense for the 85th edition of the Bol d’Or

The Bol d’Or had an 85th edition full of emotions and wind! The largest closed-course regatta in the world crowned Yann Guichard with his crew of Sails of Change 8. There was a spectacle on Lake Geneva!

At the end of the suspense! With only 1 minute and 26 seconds ahead of his pursuer, Sails of Change with Yann Guichard at the helm won after 6h22 of racing. A 2024 edition punctuated by favorable weather for flying boats, the TF35.

“It’s a relief because it was tense until the finish” comments Yann Guichard, helmsman of Sails of Change 8. “It was an edition for us, we knew before the start that it would be a TF35 which would win. It’s sure that it’s a lot of pleasure to win this Bol d’Or in these conditions” continues Yann.

The inevitable Christian Wahl

Behind this grouping of foilers, it is the inevitable Christian Wahl who ranked 6th and who at the same time won the Bol de Basalte, a reward intended for the Archimedean multihull category.

For his 27th consecutive participation, the wizard of the lake once again made his legend speak to win the Bol in his category. The monohull race was won by Philippe De Weck and his K2 boat, ahead of Raffica, winner of the last 4 editions.
