Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni has revealed the final list for the Copa America which will begin on June 20, 2024.

Argentina ended its preparation for the Copa America (June 20 – July 14) with a large victory against Guatemala. While the Albiceleste will begin their competition against Canada (June 21), we know the 26 players who will be traveling to the United States. Coach Scaloni ruled out three players including Marseille’s Leonardo Balerdi.

From 29 to 26 players

Winner of Ecuador (1-0) and Guatemala (4-1), Argentina led by Messi will try to retain its title after the triumph of 2021. For the 2024 edition, the Argentine coach has decided to dismiss three players. Leonardo Balerdi (OM), Angel Correa (Atlético Madrid) and Valentin Barco (Brighton) have packed their bags and are not kept for the Copa America. A disappointment for the Marseillais in particular, author of a good season, but who will not have convinced the coach. The Marseille defender did not play a single minute during these two preparation matches.

A first for two players

For the rest of the Argentine selection, we find well-known faces like Di Maria, Martinez, De Paul and of course Messi. On the offensive side, two new players are part of this selection and will participate for the first time in an international competition. Alejandro Garnacho (Manchester United) and Valentin Carboni (Monza) hope to honor their first milestone in the Albiceleste jersey during this Copa America.
