Legislative elections: strong participation at midday

The first voters went to the polls this morning. Free People already has an overview of the participation rate at noon on June 30.

It’s a classic at every election. The various prefectures make an initial assessment of the number of voters at midday, before a second, at 5 p.m., which is often more significant. If political analysts are looking into the subject, it’s because the number of abstainers has, in recent years, had a considerable influence on the final result of an election. And a higher turnout was predicted than in 2022. The first figures seem to confirm this. In Drôme, this Sunday, June 30, turnout at noon, according to initial estimates, was 27.98% compared to 21.38% two years ago. A much higher rate.

At the national level, participation would also be increasing (25.90%).

For comparison, on June 9, at noon, during the European elections, the rate in Drôme stood at 22.79%. But this single-round ballot differs clearly from that of two-round legislative elections: it is generally less mobilizing.

However, there is still the whole afternoon to go and do your civic duty: as a reminder, the polling stations are open until 6 p.m. If you are registered on the electoral roll, an identity card is sufficient to vote.
