The magazine detailed this Saturday the results of the legendary Ballon d’Or. Here are the choices of the Swiss journalist and the votes in favor of Granit Xhaka.

We know more about the 2024 Ballon d’Or. The results tell us that there was a fierce fight between Rodri and Vinicius Junior at the top of the ranking, since the Spaniard, 1,170 points, is only ahead of the Brazilian by 41 units. Jude Bellingham follows with 917 points and then there is a gap, Dani Carvajal, fourth, having received only 550 points. Granit Xhaka, 16th, obtained a total of 60 points. Only Artem Dovbik and Mats Hummels were never cited by the various voters.

France Football also revealed the details, journalist by journalist, and therefore country by country, of the votes for the 2024 Ballon d’Or. In Switzerland, the honor this year went to Daniel Visentini for The Geneva Tribune. The latter wanted to see Vinicius Junior win, ahead of Rodri and Jude Bellingham. His wish was therefore not granted.

Daniel Visentini’s ranking

1. Vinicius Jr (15 points)
2. Rodri (12 points)
3. Bellingham (10 points)
4. Carvajal (8 points)
5. L. Martinez (7 points)
6. The foot (5 points)
7. Haaland (4 points)
8. Yamal (3 points)
9. Mbappé (2 points)
10. Kane (1 point)

It was obviously Rodri, the winner, who most often took first place among the jurors’ votes. His name came first 49 times, while Vinicius Junior collected the maximum points 35 times. Gold France Football points out that five journalists gave no points to Rodri, compared to only three for the Madrilenian.

Besides these two players, seven deserved the Ballon d’Or in the eyes of journalists. Dani Carvajal was cited four times in the lead (Angola, Hungary, Oman, Peru), as was Jude Bellingham (Scotland, Georgia, Namibia, Slovenia). Toni Kroos won favors from Argentina and Ecuador, Lautaro Martinez from Trinidad and Tobago, Kylian Mbappé from Ivory Coast and Erling Haaland from South Korea.

The most lunar vote goes to the Nigerian journalist, since he placed the striker from his own country in the lead: Ademola Lookman, 14th in the 2024 Ballon d’Or.

Although no one placed Granit Xhaka in the lead, the Swiss slipped onto the podium twice. Germany via Karl-Heinz Wild from the magazine Kicker awarded him 10 points, or third place, proof that the Swiss midfielder made his mark last season in the Bundesliga and at the Euro against the Mannschaft. Japan also named Xhaka third.

The criteria for the Ballon d’Or

1: individual performances, the decisive and impressive character of the player
2: collective performances and the prize list
3: class and fair play

The other 12 nations that awarded points to Switzerland are Albania, Bahrain, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Denmark, Scotland, Ireland, Iraq, Italy, Namibia and Tunisia. Daniel Visentini, for his part, did not include the Bayer Leverkusen player in his honorable selection and consistent with the final ranking, since nine of the ten players chosen finished in the Top 10 of the Ballon d’Or.

As a reminder, only the top 100 countries in the FIFA rankings could express themselves through a specialized journalist. As the Syrian representative did not vote, there were 99 votes cast.
