here is the only department placed on orange vigilance this Saturday

In its latest bulletin, Météo- placed Haute-Corse on orange alert for “rain-flooding” from 2 p.m. for this Saturday. Earlier in the morning, the department had been placed on yellow alert for the same risks.

Intense bad weather in northern Corsica. While during the first bulletin published by Météo-France, Haute-Corse had been placed on yellow “rain-flood” and “storms” alert, it seems that the forecasts have worsened. Indeed, on its second bulletin of the day, Météo-France decided to place the department on orange alert concerning the risk of “rain-flooding”.

The meteorological site explains that “from the middle of the day on Saturday and until the end of the night from Saturday to Sunday, on the eastern coast of Corsica (mainly Upper Corsica), temporarily heavy and stormy rains are expected. Intensities could be around 30 to 50 mm per hour in places, and accumulations could approach 80 to 120 mm in 3 to 6 hours. Over the entire episode, the accumulations risk occasionally reaching 150 mm, or even a little more.

The intensity of the bad weather is expected to intensify at the start of the afternoon since the orange vigilance is in place from 2 p.m. For their safety, Météo-France asks residents of the department to stay away from watercourses and to stay informed while monitoring rising water levels.

In addition to Haute-Corse, five other departments have also been placed on yellow alert for potential storms.
