A day to discover disabled sports in Beauvois-en-Cis on June 15

June 15 will be a day dedicated to disabled sports. Conferences, initiations, stands and meetings… many activities are planned on the Fabrique site.

Changing the way we look at disability… this is the desire of the town of Beauvois-en-Cambrésis on the occasion of the “All Handi Village”, planned for this Saturday June 15. A first in Cambrésis. “We started from a blank page“, says Florent Matthieu, cooperation officer at the Escale Social Center and organizer of the event.

The aim was to close in style this year placed under the sign of Olympic Games…but in a slightly different way. “We did not want to approach the Olympic Games in a traditional way once again. We wanted to emphasize the paralympic and disabled sports which are not highlighted enough.“And today it’s done. An entire day will be dedicated to this oh-so-important theme in the world of sport.

A dozen stands around disabled sports

At the Factory, local associations and sports clubs will host their workshops to which able-bodied people and people with disabilities will be invited. In total, twelve partners will address disabled sport and disability. “All associations in the municipality plan to mobilize during this event.“Young and old will also have the opportunity to practice several sports disciplines.

Boccia, sports shooting, rugby, armchair, sitting volleyball and badminton, blind football, adapted table tennis… visitors will be able to slip into the shoes of a para-athlete for a moment. “These activities are offered by community clubs specifically for this event. They too chose to adapt. It’s a good way to put yourself in the shoes of…“In addition to the sports associations, schoolchildren from Beauvois-en-Cambrésis will also participate in this day by carrying out a relay.

Sports personalities

Throughout this day, sports personalities will share their experience. The sports journalist Jean-Philippe Lustyk will inaugurate the event at 10 a.m. A boxing specialist, he is the author of the book “Le Grand livre de la boxe” retracing the history of the great champions of the discipline. The journalist will be accompanied by Julien Lorcy, world boxing champion. A good opportunity to discover his very impressive journey. Handisport table tennis players, André Dairaine and William Manier will also share their experience with the public and show that “everyone has the right to have a chance“.
