The weekend is the perfect time to take a step back. All week, contradictory statements proliferate in political speeches and fake news multiplies on smartphone screens. 1. Accusations of “electoral fraud” marred the American election
#VoterFraud, #StopTheSteal or again #electioninterference. From the start of the week, these hashtags flooded our social networks a few days before the American presidential election. We were concerned by the quantity of messages about alleged “electoral fraud” in the United States. We therefore sought to find out how many publications Donald Trump and his allies distributed, and whether any of them were fake news. In the end, there are 45.3 million posts in English which appeared on this subject on the social network X. A strategy whose objective was clear: to be ready to contest the election in the event of defeat of the Republican candidate.

2. Was European aid to Ukraine diverted to build a ski resort?
This is a rumor that we have already denied several times. But it remains no less tough. An Internet user whom we have identified as a relay of Russian propaganda assures that a luxurious ski resort is being built in the Lviv oblast. An investment of 1.5 billion dollars which would be made thanks to funds paid to kyiv by the EU. We therefore found the press release from the company behind the project. And this one does not cite any public aid. Even when questioning the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, we did not identify a shred of evidence of any misappropriation of European funds.

Will walkers soon be forced to wear fluorescent outfits during hunting season?
Who says Sunday, says forest walk. But will you now have to swap your comfortable jacket for a fluorescent outfit during hunting season? This is a rumor relayed on social networks this week, including by local elected officials. She says that from January 1, walkers will have to make sure they are clearly visible in the woods. Information from a specialized site on the trail. Except that when we looked more closely at this source, we realized that behind its serious appearance, the article actually came… from a parody site. The ministry confirmed to us that it was a rumor “without any basis”.
