Referendum 2024: The Colibri association calls for a massive vote for YES | Gabonmediatime.com

As the constitutional referendum of November 16, 2024 approaches, the Colibri association, led by Charlotte Aboughe, is mobilizing to rally the citizens of Libreville to vote in favor of YES. Under the slogan “On November 16, I vote YES and you? », Colibri increases the number of meetings and raises awareness among Libreville residents of the importance of this constitutional project for the future of Gabon.

On Wednesday, it was in the CI district, in the heart of the 1st arrondissement of Libreville, that the association brought together more than a thousand people, who came to listen to the arguments in favor of YES. This neighborhood is symbolic for Colibri since it saw the birth of this association which offers crucial popular support. “ We have come to tell you to commit to this Constitution which was made for you. Dear brothers and sisters, I ask you to vote massively YES and to be at the polls on the 16th said Charlotte Aboughe, president of Colibri, in a forceful address to residents.

For the Colibri association, voting YES on November 16 means defending a vision of society that highlights stability, equality and civic engagement. Members of the association highlighted important provisions of the new Constitution, such as the definition of legal marriage between two people of opposite sexes and the limitation of the presidential term to seven years, renewable only once. These measures aim to prevent the abuses of hereditary power and to strengthen the democratic foundations of the country.

During the meeting, members of Colibri answered citizens’ questions, explaining the most discussed articles, such as articles 43 and 123, which sparked a lively debate. “ This new Constitution is the work of the Gabonese, for the Gabonese. We must honor him by saying YES on November 16 », insisted Charlotte Aboughe, emphasizing the importance of this referendum to guarantee a Gabon without dynastic transmission of power.

Founded with the mission of improving the living conditions of Gabonese people, Colibri distinguished itself in 2022 through actions in favor of deprived families and the well-being of citizens. For Charlotte Aboughe, this referendum represents an opportunity to continue this mission by positively influencing the institutional future of Gabon. She encouraged citizens to become “ actors of change » by participating in the vote, considering this consultation as an essential lever to build a more stable and inclusive Gabon.

The Colibri association will continue to mobilize Libreville residents in the days preceding the referendum, with awareness-raising actions planned in mosques, markets and other gathering places in the capital.
