Head coach Gilles Bouchard gave way to his assistant Shawn Lanoue for the occasion, a gesture appreciated by the latter.
“It was a nice gesture on his part and I really appreciated it. I met people with whom I studied in high school in the amphitheater, my parents live in Val-d’Or, in short, I liked the experience, but I especially appreciated this victory on the road, which is still rare so far this season.”
Shawn Lanoue, however, saw his team get off to a slow start.
“We had the trip in our legs.”

Linards Feldbergs’ release was shorter than expected. Out of ten shots received, the Phoenix goalkeeper allowed four goals before being replaced in the third period by Jacob Brochu, who faced nine shots, allowing one goal.
After three goals from the Foreurs at the start of the third period, the Phoenix responded with four goals, the work of Thomas Rousseau, Hugo Primeau, Florent Houle and Mavrick Lachance, in an empty net.
“It wasn’t Linards’ fault, it was everyone’s fault. Playing a game on the road in Abitibi is never easy either, now we have to concentrate on the Huskies, it will be a different game on Saturday,” concludes Shawn Lanoue.
The Phoenix directed 33 shots towards Cédric Massé, who conceded six goals.
With a record of 13-9-0-2, the Phoenix are fourth in the West.
