JAKARTA – Chairman of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Kaesang Pangarep shared a book with a cover written with his name to residents and children in the Cempaka Putih area, Central Jakarta.
Apparently, the book had the front overhang with the title “Learning and Reading is the Street of Nijaku”, and the name “Kaesang Pangarep” on the back overhang. Kaesang’s signature was also written on the first page of the book.
This similar activity was already done by his brother, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, who distributed books at a public elementary school in Surabaya some time ago. At that time, Gibran shared a book with a cover depicting his son, Jan Ethes.
However, President Joko Widodo’s youngest son insists he was not imitating his brother’s steps. Kaesang says that for the book, he has been doing it for a long time.
“I was the first. Maybe the kite would imitate me,” said Kaesang when met in Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta, Friday, June 14.
Kaesang said he had no political intent behind the activity to share the book. Although, currently he is claimed to be running in the election of Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta.
“Yes, it’s a memory. Usual, always bring items to share the same children here,” Kaesang said.
On Thursday, June 6 last week, Gibran Rakabuming Raka distributed milk and books to a student at Margorejo VI/524 Surabaya State Primary School. When they returned, dozens of students shouted Gibran’s name from the second floor of the school.
The book portrait of Jan Ethes that Gibran garnered public attention. In response to this, Gibran apologized if there were parties who do not like him.
“Sorry yes, the book has been around for the past four years,” said Gibran at the Financial Services Authority (OJK) office in Solo City, Central Java, Thursday, June 13.
