Beyond the race, the organizers have planned a major musical evening in Saint-Affrique.

It’s not just a soap box race where the public watches the descents and goes home. The 2024 edition of the Saint-Affrique soapbox race takes place on Saturday June 15 and pulls out all the stops by organizing a festive day, from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. On site from 6:30 p.m., three food trucks (pasta, pizza and seafood) to eat and a refreshment bar to quench your thirst.

“Our idea is a family and friendly day, self-service. The public can go from the race to the tables and chairs installed under tents to protect themselves from the sun. The association sees this event as a complete package with show, catering and music For the evening, we hired Team Cassou, in fact the son, Théo., specifies Laurent de Trémerie, co-founder of the La Caféine 12 association, organizer of the event. Team Cassou, known throughout the region and beyond, adapts to its very broad audience and programs techno but also French variety and classics.

Currently, 26 soap boxes have registered, some come from Camarès, Millau, Balaruc-les-Bains… The race starts at 4 p.m. and ends at 10 p.m. It takes place over 800 meters, with approximately four to six descents, the soap boxes being raised by tractors. The starting point is at the top of the Cap Vert site and the arrival is at the connected campus. Each participant leaves with gifts offered by the partners and the association awards two prizes, that of the public with a paper vote to be placed in a ballot box and a second, that of the office of the association La caffeine 12 which rewards the team more folkloric. The icing on the cake, everything is free, attend the race and the musical evening. An edition that promises to be memorable.
