The former head of the Reconquête list Marion Maréchal announced Thursday, the day after her exclusion from Reconquête, that she will “not be a candidate for the legislative elections”, ensuring that she will not resign from her mandate as European deputy acquired last Sunday under this banner. Excluded on Wednesday from the Reconquest party by Eric Zemmour, which she had joined for the 2022 presidential election, she called on Wednesday to vote for the National Rally in the early legislative elections. “I have in no way rallied or joined the National Rally,” assured Marine Le Pen’s niece on TF1. She said she had not negotiated a position within a possible government. And not seek nomination in the legislative elections “for consistency”.
“Injustice”. The door is, however, open for those close to her: “there are obviously people around me who (…) have taken the initiative to join this coalition,” she declared. Three close to Marion Maréchal followed her in her call to vote for the RN and were also excluded from the far-right party created by Eric Zemmour: Guillaume Peltier and Nicolas Bay, vice-presidents of Reconquête, as well as Laurence Trochu. All three were elected MEPs on Sunday. Several sources confirmed information from the JDD according to which four members of Reconquête, reputed to be close to Marion Maréchal, won an RN nomination for the legislative elections on Wednesday.
The former head of the Reconquest list also spoke about her exclusion from the movement: “It imposes itself on me. I am sad about it and I see it as an injustice.” Pleading for “the union of the rights”, she showed concern for the future of Eric Zemmour’s party. “I don’t know what will happen to Reconquest and I am extremely unhappy about it,” she said, “I tell them: don’t be mistaken, be part of History.” Marion Maréchal had first sought to obtain an agreement between the RN and Reconquête, before negotiations were abandoned on Tuesday.
