A national meeting, featuring eight trotting races, was organized this Thursday, June 13, 2024 at the Amiens racecourse. The first race of the program, the Prix des 80 ans du Courrier Picard, saw the victory of number 12 Le Lauréat du Parc, installed as favorite of the race by the punters. Belgian professional Christophe Martens was in charge. “ It’s a matter of wisdom with him. When he is good he is a good horse but he has his character », Confided the jockey after the race.

Mickaël Tassart, editor-in-chief of Courrier Picard, was present for the award ceremony.

The founders of Courrier Picard in the spotlight

Throughout the program, the historic founders of the regional newspaper were in the spotlight. President of the first board of directors, the communist Maurice Catelas gave his name to the second race. The third race of the meeting was named after George Louis Collet, the first editor. Joseph Garrou and Francis Dufau-Labeyrie, who were part of the group of resistance fighters behind the capture of Progrès de la Somme upon liberation, were also in the spotlight.

Next meeting at the racecourse on Saturday June 22 for nighttime trotting races.
