Floods in Spain: a torrent carries cars to the border with France, a week after the deadly devastation in the Valencia region

New disastrous images from Spain, fortunately the flooding in the Cadaqués sector did not cause any casualties.

Spain cannot yet recover from the deadly floods of Tuesday October 29 and Wednesday October 30, 2024, which cost the lives of at least 219 people, especially in the Valencia region, and while at least 93 people are still missing.

New torrential rains hit the north during the night of Thursday November 7 to Friday November 8, this time in the north on the border with the Pyrénées-Orientales, a French department also affected by bad weather. The phenomenon did not cause any casualties, but the images are distressing in the town of Cadaqués, in the Girona region. The Catalan firefighters shared this photograph, where we see “around thirty cars” carried away by the raging stream under a bridge.

The cars were parked near the watercourse

More than 100 mm of rain fell in just 24 hours in this area. The stream surged at the foot of homes, raising fears of the worst a little over a week after the devastation in the Valencia region. Cars that were parked near the watercourse were swept away.
