Two children have been hospitalized and are under medical supervision following a collision involving a school bus and a sport utility vehicle. The accident occurred around 3:45 p.m. near Rockglen, near the Saskatchewan-Montana border.
Officers from the Assiniboia detachment of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) responded to the scene of the accident, which is located 6.5 kilometers south of Rockglen.
In a press release published Monday evening, the RCMP says the collision took place at the intersection of a gravel road. The school bus carrying nine children ended up in a ditch on the side of the road.
The Director of Education of the School Division Prairie SouthRyan Boughen, says five of the nine children came home with bumps and bruises.
Four other children were taken to a hospital not far from the accident. Two of them returned home shortly after, notes Mr. Boughen.
There RCMP says the bus driver was slightly injured, while the driver and passenger of the sport utility vehicle were unharmed in the accident.
The cause of the accident is not known at this time.
