Raising public awareness of issues surrounding asylum and migration is the objective sought by the Senonchamps reception center. A meeting between the citizen and these applicants for international protection, around a show, that of Bernard Massuir. The latter decided to “tour” the different centers in the WB Federation.

Music and laughter, universal means of communication, which bring the residents of the center closer, who mix with the population. The atmosphere was warm. Upon entry, welcoming smiles and friendly greetings put visitors at ease. Residents had prepared stalls with traditional dishes from their home countries, offering a culinary journey through different cultures. Children played together, regardless of language or origin, while adults exchanged stories and experiences. Dance and craft workshops added an interactive touch to the day, allowing participants to create shared memories. Laughter resonated under the big top where Bernard Massuir gave his show, uniting the audience in the same emotion.

“Generally, things go well. Plus, when we talk, we realize that we’re not that different. There’s also compassion among some” Marie Son

André, retired, who comes every week to meet the residents of the center. She participates in her own way in the inclusion of these people. Twice a week he gives French lessons. For a little over 4 years, hundreds of people have passed through this center. Currently, 97 applicants occupy the premises.

“The maximum capacity is 100 people. There have already been around fifty people who have passed through the center since it opened almost 5 years ago.”

After Senonchamps, Bernard Massuir will return to our Province again on June 14, in the center of Herbeumont. Everyone left with the feeling of having contributed, even if only a little, to a more open and tolerant world.
