Big commotion on the road to Albertville, this Monday, June 10 in the morning, in Sevrier. Following the report of significant smoke releases, significant firefighting resources were deployed around a building containing around ten businesses.

The fire in this 3,500 square meter building comprising around ten businesses was brought under control by firefighters mid-morning. The rapid action of the first firefighters on site prevented it from spreading throughout the building. Two businesses, the bar Le Barbary and the company ArtConcept bois, were hit hard by the flames. However, other businesses experienced heavy smoke releases. The smoke extraction, roof stripping and ventilation operations will last a good part of the day.

Update with Captain Frédéric Damiani, commander of relief operations (COS) assigned to the Annecy Basin Group (GBA).

The alert was given around 8:30 a.m. Firefighters, equipped with individual respiratory devices to move safely through the smoke, carried out reconnaissance within the building to locate the fire. No flames were then visible from the outside but very large smoke releases raised fears of a widespread conflagration of the structure.

Firefighters worked to prevent the fire from spreading throughout the area.

Two large ladders were deployed above a hairdressing business and a restaurant to inspect the building from above.

Around thirty firefighters were involved in the fire which, according to initial information, came from the 500 square meter Art concept wood carpentry located at the end of the building which also houses around ten businesses. The firefighters cut the metal sheets of the roof of the carpentry with a grinder to open the way. Three lances were deployed to prevent the spread of the disaster. Concern remained high for managers and employees of businesses present around the security perimeter. The mayor of Sevrier, Bruno Lyonnaz, also visited the scene.
