An unusual accident occurred on the N4 national road, which connects Vitry-le-François (Marne) to Saint-Dizier (Haute-Marne), this Sunday June 9, 2024.

This accident led to traffic jams and difficult traffic on both lanes, while it took time to be able to “straighten the truck”, according to firefighters. A second accident then occurred near Heiltz-le-Hutier, just on the border of the department (see the locations on the map below).

Distraught by the traffic jams, a horse panicked in his van. He managed to escape, and started causing mayhem on the dual carriageway.

Two people, whether they were pedestrians or motorists, were injured. They are considered to be in relative emergency (UR).

There were 21 firefighters on site at the height of the intervention. An equestrian center was contacted in order to be able to catch and control the equine.
