The 27 EU countries have set the dates for the next European elections from June 6 to 9, 2024. 81 MEPs will be elected in France, where the vote will take place on June 9. Here are the heads of the list:

Jordan Bardella (National Rally). At 28, Jordan Bardella, the president of the National Rally (RN), approaches the European elections in the unusual position of ultra-favorite. The young man, who was just starting his history-geography degree at La Sorbonne after obtaining his baccalaureate, quickly joined the National Front full time. He first became its spokesperson, before leading the “Nation Generation” youth movement.

Valérie Hayer (Renaissance-MoDem-Horizons-UDI-Radical Party). President of the centrist “Renew” group in the European Parliament, Valérie Hayer, 38, is a specialist in budgetary issues in Brussels. A historic walker from the center-right UDI party, this graduate of the Sorbonne – in law and public finance – began her political life in Mayenne. This “daughter of farmers, granddaughter of farmers and sister of farmers”as she defines herself, was elected municipal councilor of her village, Saint-Denis-d’Anjou, at the age of 21, then departmental councilor.

Raphaël Glucksmann (PS-Public Square). His first adventure as a candidate in the 2019 European elections was perceived as a failure. At the head of his small Place Publique movement, Raphaël Glucksmann, supported by the PS, only received 6.19% of the votes. Renewed five years later, the 44-year-old essayist wants to be more confident this time. Recent opinion surveys put it at around 14% of voting intentions.

François-Xavier Bellamy (The Republicans). Great hope of the right during the last European campaign, François-Xavier Bellamy collected the disappointing score of 8.2% in 2019. One mandate later, this normalien, professor of philosophy, however established himself again as the leader of the LR list, thanks to the experience accumulated over five years.

Manon Aubry (La France Insoumise). As with Raphaël Glucksmann, Manon Aubry’s first campaign was not a great success. The head of the Insoumis list, former spokesperson for Oxfam, did not exceed 6.31% of the votes in 2019. Has since become co-president of the group “The Left” (“the left”, editor’s note) in the European Parliament, the 34-year-old LFI MEP managed to find her place in the Mélenchonist machine, and was quite naturally reappointed five years later.
