On the evening of June 7, the European Culture Prize was awarded for the first time in Luxembourg. Among the winners are the Luxembourg Philharmonic, conducted by Alondra de la Parra (also a winner), pop icon Ronan Keating, violinist Lisa Batiashvili, tenor Rolando Villazón, the Wiener Sängerknaben alongside the Wiener Chormädchen, the Egyptian soprano star Fatma Said, TV legend Frank Elstner, Jean-Claude Juncker as well as Grand Duchess Maria Teresa. The European Initiative Prize was awarded to the Stretton Society for its promotion of exceptional musicians.

Frauke Ludowig, Ludwig Blochberger, Adel Tawil and Jeanette Biedermann, the former European Commissioner Viviane Reding, the famous chef Léa Linster as well as the writer Claude Frisoni took the stage as speakers.

The prize rewards personalities, initiatives, artists, politicians and institutions for their merits and exceptional performances in favor and for the benefit of Europe and European citizens. The next awards ceremony will take place on May 9, 2025 in Chemnitz, European Capital of Culture in 2025.
