CLIMATE – An “intense rainstorm episode” is expected in Gers, Hautes-Pyrénées, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, and Landes

The sun is definitely having trouble shining. On Saturday, the weather will be marked by stormy rains over three quarters of the country, except the North-West, according to Météo-France. But particular attention will be required in four departments, classified under orange “thunderstorms” and “rain-flood” vigilance from 6 p.m.

The departments affected by the “intense rain-storm episode” are Gers, Hautes-Pyrénées, Pyrénées-Atlantiques, and Landes, the meteorological service indicated, specifying that hail is also expected. Over the entire episode, cumulative rainfall could reach or exceed 100 mm, Météo France added in its 6 a.m. bulletin, which did not yet include the Landes.

Note that this Saturday evening, locally strong storms “but relatively brief” are also expected in the center-east, “around an axis going from Puy de Dôme towards Ain”.

Temperature-wise, they will be between 7 and 10 degrees from Brittany to Benelux with locally 4 or 5 from Picardy to Lorraine. Elsewhere they will range from 10 to 16 degrees, locally 18 to 20 in the South-West and on the Mediterranean coasts.
