Catherine, from June 14, you will walk the stage of the Théâtre La Marjolaine in the play May contain traces of ego. In this comedy, you play Shantale, one of six characters, all female. Who is she?

She is the right arm of Jasmine, the character played by Geneviève Brouillette. We are on a personal development retreat. And I would say that Shantale has blind faith and is being manipulated a little. One thing is certain, she is naive.

As the piece is presented at Eastman, will you make several trips back and forth?

If needed. Otherwise, I’m going to spend the summer at Eastman. I like walking in the Eastern Townships. We are still talking about four or five performances per week.

Is your love story with Pascal Barriault continuing?

Yes! This summer, we will have been together for three years. He works hard too. He is developing a project. We’re going to try to see each other a little this summer!

What project is he developing?

He hasn’t been announced yet, but he’s helming a series that will be filmed this summer. He wrote it and he’s going to direct it.

Are you going to play a role in it?

Possibly, but it won’t be a big role because the schedules will be complicated. Before dating, Pascal and I had already known each other for around ten years. We were friends and we had worked together before. He hired me for sketches of No hard feelings. We played together in The ephemera, a web series he wrote, but did not direct. And I also made topos for Crazy piga show he hosted.

You received your diploma from the Cégep de Saint-Hyacinthe Theater School 13 years ago. Do you want to explore other professional avenues?

I’m currently studying screenwriting at the National School of Humor, and I’ll be finishing my program in a week. I am more and more interested in screenwriting.

Do you have plans in this direction with your lover?

Not at present, but we would like to eventually.

Once your training is complete, what would you like to do?

I want to develop my technique, my writing, the other side of the coin of acting. I think that my side as an actress already helps me and that it will help me as a screenwriter.

Do you already have a loan scenario?

There’s the one I work for at school. Again, you have to find a producer and a broadcaster. Ideas are not lacking.

If you chose to study screenwriting at the National School of Humor, is it because you want to get more into comedy?

Yes. I really like what the British are doing, among other things. In Quebec, I really like everything that François Letourneau And Isabelle Langloisnotably.

Who are some of your teachers?

Pierre-Yves Bernardwho created In a galaxy near you with Claude Legault.

Are you still filming the final episodes ofWith a beating heart?

Yes. I’m shooting until the beginning of June.

What awaits your character Roxane by the end of the series?

I don’t want to burn any punches, but I can tell she’s going to be fine.

Roxane developed a romantic and tumultuous relationship with Patrick L’Allier, the character played by Jean-Nicolas Verreault. What can we expect?

It didn’t go well for her, but she’ll get through it.

Do you already shed a tear when you think about the end of filming?

Yes. Saying goodbye to a character you love is always a loss. But I think the author Danielle Trottier was ready to take on new challenges.

You recently starred in the new series called Marco Lachance, a comedy-drama. Who is Mélanie, your character?

She is the colleague of Marco Lachance, the character of Michel Charette. They both work in the same office. Mélanie will influence Marco in his decisions. He will decide to leave his job to return to singing. I had two days of filming in Quebec which were really fun.

And we can currently see you in IXE-13 on Club illico. For those who have not yet watched the series, how would you describe your Denise Picard, a variety singer?

She is a cabaret artist, and we understand that she has done some shenanigans and that she is ready to do anything to get out of the game.
