The Russian-Ukrainian conflict started on February 24, 2022. Bombings, missiles, water and power cuts… More than two and a half years later, life continues in kyiv. Despite everything.
At the entrance to the vast Ukrainian capital, the bars of Soviet-style buildings pass by. On either side of the expressway, dotted with some checkpoints still in place, many are dilapidated. Not by war, just worn by time. Others are under construction. Except that the cranes are orphaned by workers. Because many construction sites have been left abandoned, brought to a halt by a never-ending conflict with its Russian neighbor. Construction professionals have been forced to swap their safety helmets for khaki uniforms. And there is no question of them leaving the country, under penalty of being labeled “deserters”.
After more than two and a half years of war, the threat remains present. Constant. Daily. So, you have to deal with it.
