After the fires, an encouraging start to the tourist season in Desbiens

The Société Récréotouristique de Desbiens, responsible for Parc le Trou de la Fée and Camping Plage Blanchet, is starting the summer season under bluer skies than last year.

As to whether the sky will remain blue, we can only hope. The forest fires that obscured it last summer remain unpredictable.

In the meantime, everything is going like clockwork at Camping Plage Blanchet. The land has not had any difficulty finding a buyer since rentals opened. A few are still available, specifies the general director of the Société Récréotouristique, Sandra Fortin.

Easy user access

Furthermore, this year, the campsite is taking a first step forward in terms of accessibility by making various facilities available to people with reduced mobility.

“We want to become an important player in accessibility for people with reduced mobility in Lac-Saint-Jean. »

A suitable mat has been installed on the campsite beach. It allows people in wheelchairs, in particular, to move more easily in the sand. It will also make life easier for people who have to maneuver a stroller or who simply have fragile balance.

Aquatic equipment, such as a Hippocampe amphibious chair, will also be available. Equipped with three large wheels, it is an all-terrain chair allowing easy access to the beach and swimming.

New infrastructure at Trou de la Fée

At Parc du Trou de la Fée, Sandra Fortin reports the opening of some of the infrastructures that were planned in the $1.8 million investment project launched in 2022.

This is a question of footbridges suspended from the cape de roc near the Métabetchouan river as well as a new section of rustic trail of 0.5 km on the left side of the river.

Sandra Fortin affirms that “all of the new infrastructure included in the investment project will be ready for the 2025 season”.

Please note that the offices of the Société Récréotouristique de Desbiens will soon move to the building which formerly housed the Caisse Desjardins.
