Six young Belgian players are among the hundred nominees for the 2024 Golden Boy award, awarded to the best player under the age of 21 playing in a European championship.
The new generation is gradually taking power, as a national team. After the 2022 World Cup, Domenico Tedesco was appointed national coach with the aim of supporting this new generation, this new team to the summits.
If Vertonghen, De Bruyne, Lukaku, Carrasco and Meunier are still there, Doku, Bakayoko, Openda, Debast, De Ketelaere & co now occupy a good place in the group. And behind it, it’s still growing.
Like every year, the Italian media “Tuttosport” has unveiled its list of 100 nominees for the Golden Boy 2024, a prize awarded to the best player playing in a European championship born on January 1, 2024 or later.
Six young Belgians nominated for the Golden Boy 2024!
A prestigious list, in which we find six young Belgian players: Malick Fofana, Arthur Vermeeren, Matte Smets, Mathias Delorge, Jorne Spileers and Mario Stroeykens.
These players were nominated based on the first six months of the calendar year. In the fall, another skimming will be done, after which only 25 potential winners will remain.
Currently, the ten favorites are: Lamine Yamal (Barça), Warren Zaire-Emery (PSG), Joao Neves (Benfica), Garnacho (Manchester United), Leny Yoro (Lille), Pau Cubarsi (Barça), Savio (Girona) , Rico Lewis (Manchester City), Kobbie Mainoo (Manchester United) and Mathys Tel (Bayern Munich).
