On site, firefighters intervened to treat several people suffering from heat-related problems. The rescuers notably used ice to cool them down. Because this early heat wave didn’t just affect Arizona. In California, temperatures reached record highs, with a forecast of 49°C in Death Valley. In Las Vegas, the temperature reached 44°C and the heat alert was extended until Saturday June 8, 2024. As our colleagues recall, this month of May was the hottest ever recorded in the world. For their part, experts from the National Weather Service have already predicted a scorching summer.
