Since Monday May 27, deputies have been examining the bill relating to “support for the sick and those at the end of life”. This Friday, June 7, they are studying the part of the text devoted to “assisted dying”. The national assembly began, Monday May 27 afternoon, the examination in first lecture of the bill relating to “support for the sick and the end of life”.

After the part of the text devoted to strengthening support for patients, particularly through palliative care, MEPs examine the part devoted to “assisted dying”. Article 5, which defines and establishes this assistance in dying, was adopted Thursday June 6 at the end of the morning. It is now article 6, which sets the “conditions of access” to assisted dyingwhich is debated.

While the bill was initially on the agenda of the hemicycle until the end of the week, the Conference of Presidents of the Assembly decided to put it on the agenda until the end of next week. Objective : leave to intense debatewhich take place on this subject touching on intimacy and convictions, time to unfold in the most complete and serene way possible.

A solemn vote on the entire text will then take place Tuesday June 18.
