The 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans began this Friday with the traditional weigh-in in the city center of the Sarthe city. For the action on the track, we will have to wait until Sunday with the Test Day, the entry list of which is known. This differs slightly from that expected for the race, a week later (June 15-16).

A few absentees should be noted due to date conflicts. This concerns in particular the drivers entered this weekend on the Road America side, namely Romain Grosjean (Lamborghini n°19), Alex Palou (Cadillac n°2), Scott Dixon (Cadillac n°3) and Kyffin Simpson (Nielsen Racing n°24) who will compete in the IndyCar round, but also Nolan Siegel (United Autosports n°22), entered for his part in Indy NXT.

These absences lead manufacturers to adapt for the Test Day of the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Chip Ganassi Racing reserve for the Le Mans event, Tristan Vautier, who is coming off a surprising and successful return to IndyCar in Detroit with Dale Coyne Racing, is scheduled for Sunday alongside Sébastien Bourdais and Renger van der Zande in the Cadillac #3.

As for Lamborghini, regular WEC starters Daniil Kvyat and Edoardo Mortara are expected to accompany Andrea Caldarelli and Matteo Cairoli in the No. 19 in Grosjean’s absence. Regular GT driver of the brand, the South African Jordan Pepper is also requisitioned for this weekend on the two Taurus prototypes. The latter also puts on the reservist uniform.

Ritomo Miyata, entered in LM P2 with COOL Racing, is expected to reinforce the two Toyota GR010 Hybrids, a car he already had the opportunity to drive during a test in Barcelona earlier in the year. This is also the case for his teammate in the Swiss team Malthe Jakobsen, a Peugeot reserve in the WEC and registered on the two 9X8s in addition to the usual starters.

Nick Yelloly and Jesse Krohn, BMW IMSA drivers but not scheduled for the 24 Hours of Le Mans, are announced on the propeller side of the firm for this day of testing, while Dane Cameron, Porsche driver in the North American championship of Endurance, is planned for the three official 963s on Sunday. The American should logically be the reserve driver for the Stuttgart firm.

See you on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. for the start of Test Day for the 2024 24 Hours of Le Mans.
