The Competition Council authorizes the takeover of Société Générale Maroc by the Saham group

On June 24, 2024, the Permanent Commission of the Competition Council, chaired by Ahmed Rahhou, gave the green light to several economic concentration operations, including the takeover of Société Générale Maroc by the Saham group.

During this meeting, held in application of the provisions of Article 14 of Law 20-13 relating to the Competition Council, the Standing Committee examined the files submitted by the Council’s investigation services. Among the decisions taken, the authorization of the acquisition by Saham Finances SA of 57.67% of the share capital and voting rights of Société Générale Marocaine de Banques SA

This economic concentration operation will allow Saham Finances to hold exclusive control over Société Générale Maroc. The Competition Council also approved the acquisition of exclusive control by Saham Horizon SA of La Marocaine Vie SA, with the acquisition of 50.98% of its share capital and voting rights.

In addition, the Standing Commission authorized other operations, such as the creation of the joint venture “Inwi Sign SA” by Wana Corporate SA and Idemia Identity & Security France SAS.
