According to Doctors Without Borders, the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital is struggling to treat “an influx of patients”

The Israeli military said Wednesday that its forces were operating “both above and below ground” in the eastern parts of Deir Al-Balah and in the Al-Boureij refugee camp in central Gaza. The operation began with airstrikes on militants’ infrastructure, according to the military, then troops said they launched a “targeted daytime operation” in both areas.

According to Doctors Without Borders (MSF), at least 70 bodies and 300 injured people, most of them women and children, were transported on Tuesday and Wednesday to the Al-Aqsa martyrs’ hospital, after the wave of Israeli strikes.

The international charity added in a post on X, that the hospital is struggling to treat “an influx of patients, many arriving with severe burns, shrapnel, broken bones and other traumatic injuries. »

“The smell of blood in the emergency room this morning was unbearable. There are people lying everywhere, on the ground, outside”declared on X Karin Huster, MSF coordinator for Gaza.

Gaza’s health system has almost collapsed after nearly eight months of war. The hospital, which was treating some 700 wounded and sick people before the latest strikes, said Wednesday that one of its two power generators had stopped working, threatening its ability to operate ventilators and incubators for premature babies.
