All that was missing was Lauryn Hill. 30 years after the release of “Sister Act 2”, Whoopi Goldberg reunited part of the cast of the musical film for a moment full of nostalgia. Seven years after having already reunited with the actresses from the first film for an unforgettable reunion orchestrated by the team of the daily talk show “The View”, the 68-year-old star replayed an emblematic scene from the sequel to the famous musical.

Sister Mary Patrick and Sister Mary Robert return

In this second part of the saga, Dolores Van Cartier (played by Whoopi Golderg) once again took on the role of Sister Mary Clarence to save a high school threatened with closure. Sister Mary-Clarence then took a class of difficult students under her wing before transforming them into a choir.

In this meeting broadcast yesterday on the ABC talk show, fans of “Sister Act” were able to find the star and a (large part) of the team of the original film including Kathy Najimy (sister Mary Patrick), Wendy Makkena (sister Mary Robert). But that’s not all, the teenagers who made the second part world famous and in particular Ryan Toby, the young introverted boy who, thanks to Sister Mary Clarence, gained confidence in himself. All together, three decades later, the actors covered “Oh Happy Day”, one of the memorable songs from the film. puremedias.com invites you to watch their performance in the video above.

Produced in the wake of the phenomenal success of “Sister Act” which had collected 231.6 million dollars for a budget of 30 million greenbacks, this second part had not met the same success but had still gleaned 100 million dollars in revenue worldwide. In France, the film only attracted 199,340 spectators in theaters (compared to 347,325 for the first opus). The multi-broadcast of the film on television made “Sister Act” a cult cinema saga.
