The AirPods Pro 2 recently swapped their Lightning port for a USB-C port. The rest doesn’t change, and that’s good: their audio performance is still excellent, for example. The good news of the day is that they have rarely been so cheap: 192 euros instead of 279 euros.

It is to comply with the requirements of the European Union that Apple has equipped its AirPods Pro 2 with a USB-C port, thus getting rid of the indestructible Lightning port for good. The iPhone 15 range was also entitled to this little revolution, by the way. This port change is, however, the only major new feature found on the most recent version of the AirPods Pro 2, which still remains simply excellent today. A quality that we can currently enjoy at a lower price thanks to a reduction of almost 90 euros.

The highlights of the AirPods Pro 2 USB-C

  • Excellent audio performance and spatial audio
  • Effective noise reduction
  • A USB-C port, more practical

Initially offered at 279 euros, the AirPods Pro 2 USB-C can now cost you only 192 euros on Rakuten.

Apple AirPods Pro 2 (USB C) at the best price?

One of the best noise reductions

If the AirPods Pro 2 case now has a USB-C port instead of a Lightning port, the headphones have not changed aesthetically at all. And we’re clearly not going to complain, as their finishes are so neat and exemplary. In addition, the comfort of this pair of in-ear headphones is always essential and wearing them for a long time does not provide any feeling of discomfort. Small change, however, in terms of the protection index: while the first AirPods Pro 2 were satisfied with an IPX4 certification, the USB-C version has an IP54 certification. They are therefore resistant to dust and water splashes.

The headphones also come with silicone tips which allow you to benefit from good passive isolation, a very useful feature to make active noise reduction more effective. The latter is quite astonishing, in particular thanks to the performance of the H2 chip. The vast majority of surrounding sounds are well suppressed, whether you are in the metro or in a noisy open space. The AirPods Pro 2 are also equipped with an Adaptive Transparency mode, which allows you to hear noises around you without having to remove the headphones.

Spatial audio, as immersive as ever

The audio performance of the AirPods Pro 2 is equally excellent. Their dynamic transducers provide excellent acoustic rendering as well as balanced and clear sound. But that’s not all: we are also entitled to an astonishing reproduction of Dolby Atmos thanks to spatial audio, which promises impressive spatialization of sound. With this mode, the soundstage suddenly expands in width, height and depth. Function Head Tracking, which can be activated in addition to spatial audio, allows the headphones to detect and follow the listener’s horizontal head movements, and to dynamically position certain sound elements. Be careful, however: its features are not available on Android.

Finally, in terms of their autonomy, the AirPods Pro 2 can operate for a little over 5 hours with ANC and spatial audio activated, and up to 6 hours with stereo music. The case, with a USB-C port, ensures up to 30 hours of battery life. Note that you can recharge the case from the iPhone battery by connecting them with a USB-C to USB-C cable.
