The Remembrance Day ceremony in Charlevoix, organized by the Municipality of Saint-Siméon, will take place on Saturday, November 9, at 10:00 a.m., at the cenotaph at the Black River halt.
“This day is an opportunity to reiterate the importance of remembering the contributions and sacrifices of Canadian veterans, as well as all those who lost their lives in the field of honor. The ceremony will highlight certain significant moments, allowing us to commemorate with emotion the courage and self-sacrifice of those who sacrificed everything to protect our values and our freedoms,” says Mayor Sylvain Tremblay.
In his invitation, the mayor points out “that throughout conflicts, Canadians, including residents of Charlevoix, have made unimaginable sacrifices, leaving family, home and dreams to defend our nation. Their bravery gives us and future generations the chance to live in peace today.”
The ceremony will include a formal parade. It will bring together veterans, members of the Canadian Armed Forces, representatives of the Sûreté du Québec, the Charlevoix cadet corps, paramedics from the region and the Fire Safety and Emergency Intervention Service of Saint- Simeon.
The parade will begin on Mauril Street, take routes 170 and 138 towards the Black River stop, to arrive at the cenotaph.
Speeches, the reading of the Act of Remembrance and two minutes of silence will mark the ceremony.
Guest speakers, including veterans, will be able to interact with citizens after the ceremony.
