Two traffic lanes have been reopened on the Brussels inner ring road after a serious truck accident which occurred around 5:00 a.m. The outer ring remains closed to traffic for the moment, indicates the Flemish Mobility Center (Vlaams Verkeerscentrum).

An accident involving a truck occurred there and cost the life of its driver. The Flemish Mobility Center (Vlaams Verkeerscentrum) asks motorists to avoid the area.

Around 5:00 a.m., a truck rolled onto the ring near Zaventem-Henneaulaan and crossed the central berm. The driver died, federal police confirmed.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident, which caused a fuel leak. The truck also lost part of its grain load.

We expect a difficult morning rush hour on the Brussels ring road“, declared Peter Bruyninckx from the Flemish Mobility Center. “Disruptions could continue for some time.”

The ring had been closed in both directions for some time, but is now partially vacated.

Motorists must join the inner ring from the Strombeek-Bever interchange due to the passage restriction, which adds 45 minutes. On the outer ring, traffic is at a standstill from the Quatre-Bras tunnel and on the E40 Liège-Brussels, already before Heverlee.
