A 34-year-old man was fatally struck during the night from Monday to Tuesday, in Clamart (Hauts-de-Seine), by a 14-year-old teenager who was driving a stolen car. After being spotted by the police, he refused to comply and then lost control of the vehicle.

A 14-year-old teenager was arrested after fatally hitting a 34-year-old motorist during the night from Monday to Tuesday in Clamart, in Hauts-de-Seine. The minor, who was driving a stolen car, was spotted by BAC police officers. The young man then refused to comply before fleeing.

He “would have lost control of the vehicle and hit a car that was coming in the wrong direction”, killing its driver, details the prosecution.

In the Fresnes district (Val-de-Marne) where the 14-year-old lived, his friends are still in shock. Leaning against a car, these young people from the neighborhood still can’t believe it.

“I thought I was dreaming at first. We are shocked, we wonder why he did that. It’s not worth it,” they say.

Here, their friend, nicknamed Momo, is known to everyone as a turbulent and easily influenced young person. He was driving a stolen car when he fatally struck another 34-year-old driver. An unforgivable act according to them.

“I don’t understand how he got there. I don’t understand why take so many unnecessary risks. In any case, it was going to end badly,” says a first. “Frankly, I have empathy, I don’t condone this at all because someone died in this case. I feel sorry for the family across the way,” adds another.

Unbridled violence among young people

Already known to the courts, the 14-year-old teenager was found guilty of violent theft last December. Increasing violence among young people, worries Claude Carillo, departmental secretary of Alliance Police.

“We notice a rejuvenation of delinquents, up to 12-13 years old. Unfortunately, we always have younger and younger, more and more violent kids. And this is a fact that is not getting better,” he laments.

He recommends better monitoring of parents and teachers in particular, to be able to identify and fight against violence among young people.
