Mathis Le Berre: “I won’t have 15,000 cartridges to escape”

After two days at the front, Mathis Le Berre tried to keep his strength, staying within the peloton and still managed to gain a point for the mountain classification. “The goal was to try to recover, in quotes of course, because you never recover on this kind of stage. It was still going very quickly today. I grabbed a small point, we you never know, it could come down to one or two points, so that was the goal Then, after the clock I will have to run intelligently to put myself in the breakaways, but I will not have 15,000 cartridges, it will also be necessary. that I’m counting on my teammates to succeed in defending this jersey. It’s an honor to ride with it, and we feel that it inspires a little more respect in the peloton. For a young rider like me, it’s nice.

Clement Champoussin finished 8th in the stage, after finishing in the same place the day before. “I haven’t looked too closely at the finish at the moment, but maybe it’s not bad. It seems to me that I was really far in the last kilometer, so it’s a bit of a shame. The big ones stages haven’t started, for the moment it was hard, but it wasn’t yet the mountain stages, I’ll see how fit I am on Friday.”
