Without a driving license, a 27-year-old man crashes into a parked truck

The least we can say is that the police officers in the Vesdre-Gueule area had a busy weekend. As they announced in a press release, they had to carry out an intervention this Friday afternoon. Shortly before 2 p.m., they were informed by their colleagues in Aachen that a drunk Belgian driver had just committed a traffic accident there with a hit-and-run. The police then mobilized to find the fugitive. They went to his home in Raeren, where they found him… asleep on the sofa. He was indeed under the influence of alcohol, and his car showed damage consistent with the accident in question.

This Sunday, around 2 a.m., police officers from the Vesdre-Gueule area were called again to Walhorn, because a break-in had just taken place in a retirement home. The police immediately began looking for the thugs. Not far from the scene of the theft, a car then caught their attention. When the police wanted to check her, she fled in the direction of Welkenraedt. There, still pursued by a police vehicle, it stopped and its two occupants decided to continue their escape on foot. The police then managed to arrest them, and the file was forwarded to the area’s judicial police. The car, meanwhile, had actually been stolen earlier in the evening, also in Walhorn.

Much later in the day on Sunday, shortly after 8:30 p.m. to be more precise, the Vesdre-Gueule police zone was called to intervention in La Calamine, for an accident with injuries. At Schnellenberg, a car violently collided with a parked truck, for a reason which remains to be determined. The driver of the vehicle, a 27-year-old young man without a driving license, had to be extricated from his vehicle by emergency services. Injured, he was immediately transported to hospital.
