Archery: Théo Carbonetti persists and sets a new national record!

Currently a Physiotherapy student, our best archer started the year with a best score of… 659 points, dating from 2021, before taking the French record on March 17 with 675 pts, then the national record on March 30 with 677 pts.

Here it is now at 680 pts, which is worth “intrinsically a top 30-40 in the world”, according to Nicolas Rifaut, the French coach, who arrived last September. Third in qualifying, Théo Carbonetti finally ranked fifth in this prestigious competition.

The Olympic Qualification Tournament will take place from June 14 to 17, in Antalya, where the two best archers will win the last tickets for the Paris Games.

Another Belgian record fell in Slovenia, the team record with our shooters Théo Carbonetti (680 pts), Jarno De Smedt (650 pts) and Feel Stinkens (636 pts), establishing a total of 1,966 points.

Belgian archers competing this weekend in Slovenia.

Eight other Belgians were competing during the qualifications: Kurt De Backer (628), Arne Collas (623), Maarten Vanhaeren (616) and Esteban Gilson (608), men’s side; Charlotte Destrooper (615), Ella Vanlangenakker (588), Julie Hellemans (582) and Olivia Guell (567).

The women’s team thus totaled 1,785 points while the mixed team, with Théo and Charlotte, obtained a score of 1,295 points.

Our archers set three Belgian records during the Euro in Essen!
