A fire broke out this Sunday, June 30, 2024, at a place called “Chamboureuil”, in the town of Genneton. It was a little after 2 p.m. when neighbors raised the alarm after seeing smoke coming out of a barn converted into a garage attached to a residential house.
Significant resources were mobilized by the firefighters. Quickly, there were nearly thirty of them equipped with three rural tank trucks, a large capacity tank truck, a hose reel and supply truck and a ladder from Landes and Vihiers (Maine-et-Loire), Nueil-les -Aubiers, Thouars and Argentonnay.
Absent from home at the time of the alert, the owners returned to see, helpless, the firefighters working to save their house, whose roof supports photovoltaic panels, and the barn where their camper van was housed. Unfortunately, although the firefighters were able to save the house, they were unable to do anything for the barn whose roof threatened to collapse and the adjoining outbuilding transformed into a garage and their contents. In the middle of the afternoon, the operations extinguishing and securing promised to last all evening.
