Do you like Uncharted and thrills? This should please you… – Cinema News

This evening, TF1 broadcast Uncharted, an adaptation of the video game franchise released in 2022. Led by the very bankable Tom Holland, this adventure film follows Nathan Drake, a clever and intrepid thief who is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor Sullivan to find the fortune of Ferdinand Magellan, which disappeared 500 years ago.

A sort of Indiana Jones for video game fans, the Uncharted saga has 6 opuses sold millions of copies. No wonder then that the Spanish PortAventura park, one of the largest in Europe, thought of this franchise to develop one of its latest attractions.

In collaboration with Sony studios, they have imagined a unique experience in the world which is aimed at fans and newbies alike. As it celebrates its first anniversary, AlloCiné was able to go to the location and go on a treasure hunt alongside Nathan Drake…

A first in the world

The attraction Uncharted: The Enigma of Penance is very different from those offered in the park since it is a “dark ride” : it is plunged entirely into darkness, with a precise scenographic route.

But rather than following a simple path, this experience promises you its share of adrenaline and surprises since it is in reality a roller coaster (and it is the combination of the two which is a first!).

Uncharted in a few figures is: 673 meters in length, peaks 12 meters high, 5 accelerations, rotating platforms, multi-directional ascents and descents and inverted free falls.

The presence of screens throughout the course allows participants to be immersed in the experience and to participate with Nathan Drake and his team in the discovery of an Aztec treasure (but to recover it, many dangers await you! ).

An original immersion

Who says big attraction, says a lot of waiting. This is why the Uncharted experience begins from the moment you step into the queue: screens located throughout the corridors explain your upcoming mission and allow you to discover the world of the film / games if we don’t know them.

A word of advice: raise your head, look around you and don’t miss a single bit of the scenery. You will feel like you are walking through a temple where danger awaits you at every turn…

The climax ? A life-size animatronic of Nathan Drake (well, Tom Holland) who gives us valuable information about what awaits us next… If you don’t speak Spanish, simply download the app and scan a QR code at the entrance. Your phone will translate the different skits to you live. This is an essential step to understand everything about attraction…

Note that Uncharted is also offered as a “single ride”, which greatly limits the wait even if you will not be able to share the experience with your friends or family. By opting for this option, you will not follow the immersive course.

What we thought about it

Uncharted is everything we imagined, only better. If you are a fan of thrills and speed, you will be amply satisfied, thanks to the accelerations and multiple climbs/descents. Make this attraction a dark ride allows us to multiply the sensations: we don’t see what awaits us and we let ourselves be carried away…

It is unlike any other activity offered in the park and is worth the trip. Especially since it is a family attraction (minimum height: 1.30 m) and young and old will find what they are looking for there… There remains the waiting time, which can vary between 15 minutes and 1 hour (at the time we get there). were) depending on the time of day.

An essential VR experience

After testing Uncharted, we were also able to discover the VR experience which is only aimed at people with disabilities. We discover a small hidden room at the exit of the attraction with two platforms, on one of which there is a wheelchair.

The idea? Offer the same route, but with slightly different sensations. The VR headset takes us on the roller coaster while the board moves in all directions to accompany the movement of the wagon!

A great alternative!
