Superdvoluy skier Cyprien Sarrazin, winter hero with his four World Cup victories including the double in Kitzbuehel, took part this Saturday in the “Last stick planted” operation in his resort. He met up with his old friends and shared his winter experiences before returning to training next week in Corsica.

Cyprien, you find the resort where you learned to ski. Happy to come back to Superdévoluy where you rarely have the opportunity to come during the winter?

“It warms my heart. There are all the people here who have allowed me to be where I am. Coming back here is an opportunity to thank this entire station that supports me. It’s very nice to be there and also to be present for the Last Planting of the Stick, which is a great initiative. We live in the mountains, we want them to stay clean. When the snow melts, there is a lot of waste…”

You come back from vacation after a busy spring. Did this allow you to recharge your batteries?

“It did me good. These vacations were needed. I went away for two weeks alone for the first time in my life, without any sport on the program. I was in Bali and the islands to find some peace and quiet. I loved it. I have plenty of energy for the recovery. »

What is your program for the next few days?

“I will gradually resume with physical preparation and cycling in Corsica next week, to find some sun. Then, at the beginning of July, I will put my skis back on in Les 2 Alpes (with the technical group). »

On July 17, for the first time the Tour de France will stop at Superdévoluy. As a cycling enthusiast, will you be there?

“Christian Prudhomme (director of the Tour de France) invited me to pass the stage in his car. That will be nice. He told me it would be a great stage with attacks. This is promising with the Col du Noyer in particular on the program. »

You won four World Cup stages in speed this winter after a first in giant (parallel in 2016). Which disciplines do you want to focus on next winter?

“I keep the same intention as last year. I’m going to prepare as big as possible, in addition to speed. With my 500 points, I can start with bib 31 instead of 70. The objective is also to perform as a giant, that remains in the back of my mind even if the super-G and the downhill have priority. »
