Friday evening, around 11 p.m., a serious accident occurred in Ransart (Charleroi) on the Chaussée de Gilly. A minivan and a small city car collided. Under the violence of the shock, the driver and her passenger in the city car were trapped inside their car. An extrication by the Jumet firefighters, under the orders of Lieutenant Mellearts, was necessary to get them out of the passenger compartment.

Two ambulances from the Gilly fire department and PIT, as well as a SMUR dispatched to the scene, took care of the two women. In serious condition, they were transported to Marie Curie and Notre-Dame hospitals respectively. The man driving the minivan refused to be picked up.

The local Charleroi police sent several teams to establish the findings and divert traffic during the intervention. But faced with the man’s statements, which did not seem to correspond to the situation noted by the agents on site, a notice was made to the magistrate of the Charleroi public prosecutor’s office: an expert was appointed and sent to the site to establish the circumstances of the accident in the most neutral way possible.

A tow truck was then sent to the scene to remove the two vehicles involved, both of which were unroadworthy and in total damage.
