Recently-crowned La Liga champions real Madrid will be up against German outfit Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League 2023-24 final at the Wembley Stadium in London, England in the wee hours of Sunday.

Real Madrid are 14-time UEFA Champions League winners and by far the most successful team in the competition. The Spanish side lifted the trophy most recently in 2022. This will also be Real’s 17th record appearance in the final of this soccer competition.
It has been a successful season for Los Blancos who have regained the Spanish league title from arch-rivals Barcelona. They won 29 of their 38 games in the La Liga this season, losing only once.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side had to dig deep to overcome Bayern Munich 4-3 in the UCL semi-finals. Earlier, Real Madrid also got the better of defending champions Manchester City on penalties after the two sides finished the two-legged quarter-finals tied at 4-all.
Borussia Dortmund have endured a mixed season. They finished a disappointing fifth in the Bundesliga but find themselves in Europe’s biggest game on the back of spirited performances in the UCL.
Dortmund secured a 5-4 aggregate win over Atletico Madrid in the quarter-finals before knocking out French outfit Paris Saint-Germain in the last four. The German team won 2-0 on aggregate after securing 1-0 wins both home and away.
This will be the third Champions League final appearance for the German side, who lifted the trophy in 1997.
It will be the 15th head-to-head meeting between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid. Dortmund have only been able to win three while Los Blacos have tasted victory six times. The remaining five have ended in draws.
The two sides last faced each other in the Champions League in 2017-18 with Real Madrid winning both games in the group stage.
