Around twenty cyclists responded, Saturday May 25, to the call of the Pic Cyclable collective. For the occasion, they covered 22 km on the small roads between Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréveils, Valfaunès and Fontanès. These lovers of the little queen were able to highlight several black points limiting the safety of bicycle travel: degraded roads, an absence of ground markings or “caution cyclists” signs and difficult crossings of major departmental roads (D1 and D17). ).

Need and awareness

The group highlighted the need for a cycle path of approximately 800 m between the end of Chemin de Milhac, a road coming from Sainte-Croix de Quintillargues and meeting the D1 on the outskirts of Saint-Mathieu-de-Tréviers.

This event was also an opportunity to raise awareness among citizens, young and old, about cycling within villages but also between villages for small everyday trips such as going to school, college, etc. your shopping or consult a health professional, while ensuring physical exercise useful for good health.

It also made it possible to alert public decision-makers to the need for investments for gentler mobility including cycle paths, crossing of major roads, secure bicycle parks or training of cyclists for better safety.
