An investigation was opened after the death of a 51-year-old man, this Saturday, October 19, 2024, around 8 a.m., on the terrace of a restaurant in Puget-Ville. The father of the family, firefighter and caregiver, well known in this small town in Var, was fatally stabbed in the chest by a young man in his twenties, report our colleagues from Var Morning .
The gesture, perpetrated for no apparent reason, would have been committed by a man “he seems ill”according to a witness cited by the local newspaper. The victim died from his injuries before help arrived, reports France Blue Provence .
His grandfather also injured
After the attack, the alleged attacker went on foot to his grandfather, to whom he stabbed several times, according to the local newspaper. The latter, injured, was transported to hospital.
The attacker was then restrained by members of his family before being arrested by the police. He was taken into custody. In the afternoon, Toulon prosecutor Samuel Finielz confirmed that a person had been arrested for homicide, cited by public radio.
