Jamie Vardy has added his name to the Premier League’s history books once againdespite his side losing 3-1.
The Leicester City striker scored his fourth goal of the Premier League season against Nottingham Forest on Friday night.
Ryan Yates put Forest ahead after just sixteen minutes, before Vardy equalised, only for Chris Wood to strike twice to give his side a comfortable victory over their rivals at the King Power Stadium.
In finding the net, Vardy joined an elite group consisting of former Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur legends.
At the age of 37 years and 288 days, he is the fourth-oldest player ever to score in back-to-back Premier League appearances.
Only Teddy Sheringham (39y 350d), Ryan Giggs (39y 86d) and Graham Alexander (38y and 28d) are perched above the forward on the list.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Steve Cooper took full responsibility for his side’s defeat.
“It’s self-inflicted, no doubt about that, and it’s on us,” he said. “We all have to take responsibility for how the game panned out.
“We made poor mistakes for the goals, no doubt about it, and we were punished for it but I just think conceding so early on in the second half was obviously not a good thing.
“There was still a lot of time for the game to settle again, us to carry on with things we were doing in the first half, improve and be the threat we wanted to be.
“The third goal was just a real killer and still there was a lot of time left but the game just became a little bit of trying to get players on in certain positions, territory all that stuff, defenders on, extra attackers on, we just lost any sort of rhythm we got in the first half – we lost it completely because of scoreline so it’s on us.”
Vardy’s goal also means that he’s now scored more Premier League goals already this term than he managed in the whole 2022/23 season.

Yates put Forest ahead early in the first half when the Foxes made a mess of attempting to clear a corner, allowing the Forest captain to hammer the ball home from the edge of the area.
Vardy equalised not long after for Steve Cooper‘s side – against his former club – when he tucked away a delightful cross from Harry Winks.
Wood put his side in the lead once again with a superb finish in what was a brilliant start to the second half for Forest.

He then made it two goals in 13 minutes after a howler from Wout Faes enabled the New Zealand international to loop a header over Leicester goalkeeper Mads Hermansen.
Forest’s victory means that it is now their longest unbeaten away streak in the Premier League since 1995.
Vardy’s illustrious career in the English top-flight consists of a Premier League title, Golden Boot and FWA Footballer of the Year award.
In November 2015, he was also awarded a Guinness World Record for becoming only the fifth-ever player to win the Premier League Player of the Month trophy in consecutive months.

Vardy made his 316th Premier League appearance on Friday night and has scored a whopping 160 goals during that time.
Following the 2015/16 season, he was also named Premier League player of the season after his beloved Leicester City remarkably won the league title.
