A woman was stabbed to death in Émerainville (Seine-et-Marne), on the night of Wednesday October 23 to Thursday October 24, 2024. « principal suspect » is his spouse, specified the Meaux public prosecutor's officeAFP. He then attempted suicide at their home, where two of their children were. Three months earlier, he had been arrested in the act of domestic violence.
The woman died of several stab wounds
“At 5:35 a.m., the police from the Torcy police station noted the death, at her home, of a woman of Brazilian nationality born in 1983,” declared prosecutor Jean-Baptiste Bladier in a press release. The Seine-et-Marne interdepartmental judicial police service is responsible for the investigation.
“The death was clearly the result of multiple stab wounds,” he clarified. The autopsy, which will be carried out in the coming days by the Paris forensic institute, will confirm or not this hypothesis.
One of the children injured while trying to intervene
One of the deceased's three children, aged 17, raised the alarm, explaining that “his father, a Brazilian national born in 1980, had stabbed his mother”, detailed the prosecutor.
The teenager was injured while trying to get between his two parents. Another child of the couple was present at the home at the time of the incident but the boy, aged 14, was unhurt.
The two minors were taken to hospital. “Depending on the family resources available, the Meaux public prosecutor's office will issue a temporary placement order in order to entrust them to child welfare,” emphasized the prosecutor.

Man arrested for domestic violence in July
When they arrived, the police discovered the father “hanged in the cellar”. He was hospitalized and “his vital prognosis remains compromised at this time”, the prosecutor clarified at midday.
The man has never been the subject of a judicial conviction but “on July 25, 2024, he was arrested in flagrante delicto and placed in police custody for acts of violence without total incapacity for work by the spouse”. Jean-Baptiste Bladier explains that“in consideration of the facts and the absence of a criminal record of the accused, the Meaux public prosecutor's office ordered a criminal response in the form of a criminal composition”.
Penal composition is an alternative measure to prosecution which allows a person to be judged quickly, provided that the latter recognizes the alleged facts and accepts the proposed measure, whether it is a criminal sanction or a reparation measure. Composition saves time by avoiding a criminal trial.
Already two feminicides in less than a week
This tragedy comes after two feminicides in less than a week in France. In Rouen,n Normandy, on October 20, a young man was arrested after the murder of his ex-girlfriend, aged 17.
The same day, in Reunion, a 34-year-old woman was fatally stabbed. Her ex-partner is suspected of having killed her before attempting suicide. In September, at least six women were killed by their spouses or ex-spouses.
