Big changes coming to Uber Eats and great news for students

Are you the lazy type, or never have time to prepare good meals? Do you prefer to use a VTC driver than a taxi for your travels? So, you definitely know the Uber platform! If you are a fan of its services, you should expect some changes. Indeed, during its annual conference, Uber announced some new features, which will concern all aspects of its activity. For now, most of these changes will apply to the company’s home country of the United States, but they will expand globally, very quickly. I will go over the question for you. Let’s go.

A special subscription for students!

Uber One for Students, this is the name given to this new feature, which consists of the creation of a special subscription for students. They are among the biggest consumers at Uber Eats, in particular. The subscription for students will be €4.99 per month, and will allow them to benefit from discounts on Uber Eats deliveries and on their journeys. Uber One for Students is not not yet available in France, but should soon appear on your application. Students will also have access to partner offers, such as free products from Starbucks or Domino’s, to name just these two brands.

More social interactions with Uber Eats

Uber Eats has introduced a new feature to its food delivery app: recommendation lists. Now users can create and share lists based on their preferences, their favorites and the cities they visited. This functionality should be deployed quickly in France. You can, for example, share your favorite places or dishes with your loved ones.

First new feature: Uber Shuttle

Known for its transportation services, Uber recently launched a new feature called Uber Shuttle. Currently only available in the United States. However, we do not know, at the moment, if this new feature will arrive in France. This service actually allows you to reserve seats on local shuttles. Useful, for example, to connect airports, concert halls or certain tourist sites, which operate with dedicated shuttles. This will probably be the case during the Paris Olympics, among others. Uber promises to cut the cost of transport of this type in half thanks to Uber Shuttle.

Uber now takes care of your loved ones!

This latest new feature called Uber Caregiver is perhaps the most innovative. Associated with the Uber Health service, it allows relatives of a sick person to book trips to provide them with their medication, or purchases related to their illness. Function, currently only available in the United States, aims to take care of those you love. A three-way chat system allows loved ones to discuss with the delivery person the needs of the loved one to be protected. Services for the loved one, provided by Uber, will benefit from preferential rates, lower than for a classic “ride” in this specific area. What do you think of these new features? Do you plan to use them as soon as they become available in France? We would love to read your thoughts or hear about your experience with this.
