Two murders committed almost a year ago

Ten people were arrested on Monday in this case, but one of them was released, according to the AFP source. These people are being questioned as part of the investigation opened after the murder of a 25-year-old woman and a man in his twenties, shot dead in their vehicle in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in the working-class neighborhoods of north of Marseille (new window) November 11, 2023.

According to the Parisian, “among those held in custody are suspected hitmen, logisticians and drivers” suspected of being involved in this shooting, which, in addition to the two deaths, injured three other people in the same car.

At the time of the events, the Marseille public prosecutor Nicolas Bessone indicated that the five people affected were parked in the parking lot of a McDonald’s around 11 p.m. “when a vehicle (had) arrived at them and (had) razed them with a Kalashnikov”.

These arrests come in a context of excitement in the Marseille environment, since two narchomicides once again plunged the city into mourning in October, notably the murder of a VTC driver, collateral victim of drug trafficking.

In 2023, Marseille experienced a bloodbath with 49 deaths in narchomicides, most of them linked to a conflict between the DZ Mafia and its competitor, the Yoda clan. Among them, seven minors lost their lives, according to the prosecution.
